Biography
Ghana’s newcomer to the music industry Tecknikal was born as Earl Owusu Ansah on the 16th of September 1997 in Kumasi, Ghana. After his childhood years in Ghana he moved to the United States at the age of 15. He continued his high school education in Columbus, the state capital of Ohio, and graduated in 2016 to attend the “Columbus State Community College”.
Tecknikal discovered his talent for music in the sixth grade, when he started to write poems and turned them into raps. Early musical influences for Tecknikal were Sarkodie, Tinie Tempah, Skepta and R2bees. But it was not until after he moved to Columbus, when he started to record his music. One of his friends with a home studio invited him for a session and Tecknikal recorded his first song. After posting the track on SoundCloud he received such great reviews that he decided to jump on the music train.
In 2017 a friend of Tecknikal had played his songs to Mugeez during a photoshoot in Ohio. Mugeez was impressed by his unique style and asked to meet up. The two talked about music generally and Mugeez offered to work together. They had stayed in touch since then and in the end of 2019 Mugeez signed Tecknikal as the first artist under his new record label Extrial Music.
